Pros and Cons of Solar Energy

Lots of people are familiar with the term "Solar Energy" but not many people are familiar with the details. There are many reasons why solar energy is better than other sources of energy, also there are many reasons why it isnt better than other sources of energy. In this article you will learn the major pro's and con's of solar energy.

Pros

  • The Panels made to collect the sun's energy do not create pollution.
  • Solar energy is produced without having to deal with loud noise unlike when energy is made from using fossil and renewable energy resources such as wind turbines.
  • Unlike other renewable energy sources, solar energy can be placed in remote areas of the world, also its the only energy that can be made while in space.
  • Installing solar panels in remote areas of the world is way cheaper than installing high voltage wires other energy sources would need.
  • It can be collected from almost anywhere on earth and as we research more about solar energy, they are making new ways to collect solar energy on cloudy days.
  • Solar panels can also be installed on you're rooftop to reduce the cost of electricity and heating bills.
  • The cost of solar panels makes solar energy a likly choice for a homeowner; although it may be high at first, it provides a free source of energy which will pay for itself over the years.
  • You can sell extra energy made from your solar panels to a utility company for credits so at night when you use electricity you are charged credits instead of money.
  • It is a great alternative for burning fossil fuels and to help make the environment better.

Cons

  • The major downside about solar energy is that it costs alot upfront for the solar panels, which makes it an investment that you probally would not make if you rented an apartment or small house.
  • Solar panels are simply large and space consuming, making it another reason you wouldent get them if you rented an apartment.
  • Solar panels need to be pointed in the correct angle to be the most effecient, some roofs are not in the correct angle and sometimes be less effecient or even unable to install.
  • Solar panels require the sun to create energy, which obviously means they only work at night, so you have to also find a way to store the energy.
  • The bad weather effects the power output.
